In the Province of Córdoba there are plenty of pigeons and usually, they live in the mountain area. The hunting of pigeons does not take place always on the same spots. Sometimes you hunt in feedlot fields (fields for cattle fattening), where the pigeons go to eat the grains that have been previously shat by the cattle and to drink water from the drinking trough. Some other times, you practice stand hunting between olive groves or pine tree fields, which offer the hunters high and difficult shots. It is habitual to use blinds during the hunt because pigeons are not an easy prey. Besides, it is essential to be well equipped with camouflage garments.

The hunting takes place in fixed blinds, camouflaged by bushes and specially set so that the hunter can shoot comfortably. In the hunting spots there are beverages, ammunition and even chairs for the hunters to sit when they are tired, in order to make the hunting pleasurable.

These hunting spots are 2 to 3 hours from our estancia EL CORTIJO. When the hunting programs are for 2 or more days, in order to avoid daily trips, we lodge our clients in other first class estancias located in the area. There are plenty of estancias, as these hunting spots are also tourist points of interest.

THE LODGE

Our estancia, EL CORTIJO, is a 5 stars resort, located just 50 miles from the International Airport of Córdoba. It is situated northeast of the Province of Córdoba, next to a town called Santa Rosa de Río Primero. It has 9 double bedrooms with private bathrooms, air conditioning, room service available 24 hours, and laundry service. It also has an outdoor hydromassage jacuzzi and a heated pool. Inside, there is a spacious dining room, a living room, a Satellite TV room (DirecTV), an Internet room (Business Point) with a computer, fax and a printer. Besides, the resort also has WIFI technology, for the clients to have Internet access from anywhere in the estancia, for free. And for the youth, the estancia has a pool table and a Play Station 2 (PS2) with a variety of games.

The menus of EL CORTIJO Restaurant include a wide range of Argentinean dishes of high gastronomy, which include abundant red meat. Our chefs’ team, led by David Lucero, puts emphasis and favors national products based on modern culinary techniques, creating on bakery and on other variety of foods local flavors, but subtler than the traditional cuisine of this country. As regards wines, EL CORTIJO has a selection of the best Argentine stock, standing out the famous MALBEC.
