HUNTING IN ARGENTINA
Dove and pigeon hunting in
Santiago del Estero
In Santiago del Estero, there are great numbers of doves (zenaida auriculata) and pigeons of different kinds and they are considered to be a plague. It is very common to see in this area the spot-winged pigeon (Columba Maculosa) and the picazuro pigeon (Columba Picazuro).
The hunting spots are north of the province and there is a distance of approximately two hours between the Airport of Santiago del Estero and the estancia where we lodge the hunters. Unlike Córdoba and other provinces, in Santiago del Estero doves and pigeons coexist in the same area, characterized by wild scrubland. It is usual to hunt them together in the roost, feed lot fields, or in the surrounding area where they drink and eat.
The hunting spots are extremely wild, and there is a vast forestation and big cereal fields, where corn and sorghum are mainly cultivated for cattle fattening. The possibility of hunting both species in the same area is one of the main attractions for hunters because they do not have to travel.
In addition, it is possible to hunt three varieties of partridges: the small partridge (inambúe), the montaraz partridge, and the copetona partridge, but only during hunting season. In this area you can also hunt Chaco Chachalaca (Ortalis canicollis).
THE LODGING

Our clients are lodged in completely equipped new cabins. Each room has air conditioning, private bathroom and everything the hunter may need in order to offer him maximum comfort.
