Big game in Santiago del Estero and San Luis

Big game can be practiced in many provinces of Argentina, but the ones with more game preserves and the most prestigious are La Pampa, Buenos Aires and Santiago del Estero.

The puma or mountain lion

Is a coveted trophy. It is an animal of solitary habits, a short and wide headed, round eared feline. Usually, its hair is brownish-gray, with white spots on its snout and black facial outlines. Adult males weigh more than 154 lbs. and females, which are considerably smaller, weigh between 88 and 110 lbs. approximately. Puma hunting is allowed most of the year due to the fact that it is a predator of cattle. In order to follow this animal, hunters need experimented guides.

Red Deer
The methods used to hunt red deer are lying in wait and stalking. In the first case, hunters wait next to the rutting place taking advantage of the full moon nights. The hunters blend positioning themselves against the wind, waiting for the prey. Stalking, on the other hand, is when the hunter follows the deer recognizing its traces or listening to its bellowing that, although it is short, it may help to orient the pursuit. Of course this requires knowledge and ability to walk through the woods.

Wild Boar
Is another international attraction. The great number of animals of this species, ith its excellent breeding conditions allow the hunting season for this animal to be open all year round.

The wild boar is fierce, very fast and it is not afraid of men. The bigger male wild boars may weigh up to 440 lbs.
